Winter schedule, checked 2 November 2026.

London: Gatwick, Luton and Stansted

Gatwick has the most flights: British Airways every day, easyJet once or twice a day and Jet2 twice a week, 21 flights in the week we checked. Luton adds easyJet three times a week and Jet2 once; Stansted has Jet2 three times a week, plus Ryanair.

Heathrow has no direct flight to Funchal this winter. From Heathrow the easiest route is TAP to Lisbon and on to Funchal, on one ticket.

Manchester and the north of England

Manchester has Jet2 every day, plus easyJet. Ryanair flew the route until 22 October 2026 and is not in the winter schedule. Leeds Bradford, Newcastle and Liverpool each have one Jet2 flight a week.

Scotland: Edinburgh and Glasgow

Edinburgh has Jet2 twice a week and Glasgow once. Ryanair’s Edinburgh flight ended on 24 October 2026, so this winter all the direct flights from Scotland are Jet2.

Bristol, Birmingham, the Midlands and Bournemouth

Bristol has easyJet three times a week and Jet2 twice. Birmingham and Bournemouth have Jet2 twice a week, and East Midlands once. Bristol and Bournemouth, at 3h 40m, are the quickest flights from England.

Ireland: Dublin and Shannon

Ryanair flies to Funchal twice a week from Dublin (3h 45m) and twice a week from Shannon (3h 30m). There are no direct flights from Cork, Knock or Belfast this winter: the easiest way is a flight to Lisbon, then on to Funchal.

No direct flight from your airport

  • Heathrow: TAP flies to Lisbon several times a day and sells the onward flight to Funchal on the same ticket, so the connection is protected.
  • Belfast, Cardiff, Exeter, Norwich, Southampton or Jersey: fly to the nearest airport on the list above, or to Lisbon or Porto and on to Madeira.
  • Separate tickets via Lisbon: allow at least 3 hours, as you pass passport control there and Ryanair and easyJet do not connect flights. More on Lisbon to Madeira.
